The group was founded in Madeira in 1811 and has had marked success from its origins in Wine, Shipping (established on a once thriving Coal bunkering service), Ship Repair, Ship’s Agency and Chandlery, Banking (Blandy's Bank), Hotels, Tourism, Media and Real Estate Development.
