The Blandy involvement with Media Investments started when we acquired the Diário de Noticias in the 1930’s. The group ensures that the newspaper thrives as an “Independent”, with all Editorial content being the responsibility of the Ediitor. In recent years the Diário de Noticias has won a variety of prestigious prizes including “European Newspaper Award” as well as “Premio Gazeta” awarded by the Portuguese journalists Club for Regional Press.

Founded in October 1876. With a daily print run of 18,000 copies rising to 25,000 on Sunday’s ,the Diário has the biggest market penetration of any Regional newspaper of Portugal. It has 8,000 daily subscribers and market studies have proven that the paper is read by over 126,000 readers daily - an exceptional penetration in an island of just 270,000 inhabitants. It is the only newspaper published in Madeira with a certified circulation made by independent auditors. The Diário employs 120 staff all of whom work with the latest technology of the sector. |
The core daily paper consists of the main section with Regional, National and some International news together with a Sports and Culture section. In addition there are regular weekly supplements aimed at specific areas of readership. Associated to the Diário is the weekly Correio de Venezuela which has a print run of 12.000 and targets the large Portuguese/Madeiran community in Venezuela.
The Diário has an online platform www.dnoticias.pt which receives over 9,000 visitors a day and serves as the information hub for the local Madeiran community as well as those Madeirans spread throughout the world. The interactive elements of the Diario goes beyond just content as readers are encouraged to share their views with the newspaper in this way becoming content creators of the paper/platform.

This company distributes the Diario daily firstly to the 8,000 subscribers on a door to door basis throughout the island and to the principle points of sale on the islands. SDIM is a joint venture with the main Portuguese distributor of newspapers and therefore also distributes the main National newspapers, several of the International newspapers as well as many of the National monthly magazines. |
