Michael Blandy, chairman of the Blandy group, today announced in an interview to the 'Diário de Notícias' that the group is currently developing a new Hotel concept for the Iberian Peninsula.
'Inspira' is the brand name given to the new hotel investment enterprise, which at the end of the year will possibly be kicking off with 4 or 5 hotel projects in the Iberian Peninsula. Some of these projects will be starting from scratch, "There is a difficulty in creating a valued brand, if this is not reflected in the actual hotel" commented Michael Blandy. Negotiations are running at a smooth pace, and the evolution of this business project is more dependant on obtaining licensing than real estate acquisition. "We are looking for urban Units with more than 60 and up to 120 rooms", making it quite clear that the Group is betting on urban tourism "for business as well as leisure", therefore "finding and exploring niche markets" is essential to the hotel business.
The project is being lead by Daniel Frey, ex-director of 'The Cliff Bay' and there is a complementary relationship with the Porto Bay Group and the "know how" acquired from this experience. "Competition is inevitable, it cannot be eliminated, its healthy and we are going to have to learn to live with it". Market placement will be done adequately and in a differentiated manner so as not to enter in direct competition with their partners. Michael Blandy referred that this project was partly made viable by the sale of the Automotive Business in the Canary Islands in 2004/05..
