Blandy’s Madeira Wine Company celebrates its 200th anniversary in 2011.
Francisco Albuquerque has anticipated all the joy of the upcoming celebrations, having been elected consecutively the best fortified wine oenologist in the world. He did not renew the title attributed by the International Wine Challenge in 2010, but saw his 1985 Blandy's Malmsey win the trophy for the best Madeira in competition, in the latest edition of this important London contest.
This 1985 Blandy's Malmsey is still young, but it has the ideal balance between sweet warmth and acidic freshness revealing a unique wine deserving the W award for the best fortified wine.
