As a family business with over more than 210 years of experience, we are always endeavouring to ensure that the business is passed on to the next generation in the best possible state. In recent times, we have become increasingly  aware of the rapid changes required to defend the sustainability of the business and to safeguard the social, environmental and economic impact that the Blandy Group has on  on the island. With this in mind, we created ASAS (Ajuda Solidaria Ambiental e Social), a program focused on developing social and environmental actions that impact on our community. Simultaneously, we have sought globally accredited certification for each one of our operational businesses.  

We have created specific HR schemes for our staff at the company. These include programs on health and wellness and health risk assessment, life skills training for staff and their families, sponsorship for tertiary or adult education, and external professional development opportunities. We also provide financial support to members of staff whose children attend university. Members of the company also work on individual social projects active in areas of deprivation around the island.  The Blandy Group has also developed Blandy Academic Scholarships, available to students at the University of Madeira (UMa) who may encounter financial hardship during their studies and who meet the necessary academic standards. 

Each company has developed programs to reduce its carbon footprint and the use of water and to remove all non-essential plastic.

Blandy Travel & Shipping: On the 27th of July 2023, the agency was awarded the Travelife Partner level award, which recognizes the long-term efforts of the agency regarding sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility. We comply with more than 100 criteria, relating to our office management, product range, international business partners and customer information.
